What is Covid-19?
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a communicable respiratory disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus that causes illness in humans.
How is Covid-19 spread?
The disease spreads from person to person through infected air droplets that are projected during sneezing or coughing. It can also be transmitted when humans have contact with hands or surfaces that contain the virus and touch their eyes, nose, or mouth with the contaminated hands.
COVID-19 was first reported in China, but it has now spread throughout the world.
Is COVID -19 preventable?
Yes, Covid-19 is preventable by following the Government of Kenya and the Ministry of Health guidelines in line to stop the spread of Covid-19.
How can one prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease?
To protect yourself and others against COVID-19;
- Clean your hands frequently and thoroughly.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer or wash your hands with soap and water. If you use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, make sure you use and store it carefully.
- Avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose.
- Maintain social distance and avoid overcrowded places.
What is a safe distance from others to protect against the coronavirus disease?
